About Laura Abrams, M.D.

FOUNDER, seneca medical Advisory

Dr. Laura Abrams is a board-certified internist who has chosen to use her skills as a consulting physician to improve the lives of others. Dr. Abrams graduated magna cum laude from Cornell University, where she received a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry, before completing her Master of Arts in biological and biomedical sciences at Harvard University.  Shortly thereafter, Dr. Abrams attended New Jersey Medical School, where she earned her medical degree and completed her residency in internal medicine. During medical school, Dr. Abrams was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society and received the Dr. Harold J. Jeghers Future Internist Award. At the conclusion of her residency, Dr. Abrams was presented with the Most Humanistic Resident award from the Department of Medicine for demonstrating compassionate clinical care.

Upon completion of her residency in 2011, Dr. Abrams began medically advocating for friends and family. She has provided guidance to individuals of various ages on a wide range of medical conditions, including numerous types of cancers; heart diseases, including atrial fibrillation and valvular diseases; musculoskeletal disorders such as shoulder pain, plantar fasciitis, and back pain; neurologic conditions; respiratory disorders; ophthalmic conditions; endocrine diseases; gastrointestinal conditions; urinary conditions; and autoimmune and diseases and allergies.

Dr. Abrams discovered that her experience with biochemistry and molecular biology enhanced her understanding of therapeutics and biomedical research. In addition, her research background endowed her with the ability to interpret clinical trial data and speak the language of physician researchers. After realizing how much these skills enabled her to provide essential, significant benefits, Dr. Abrams expanded her practice to the public.

About Seneca Medical Advisory

When Dr. Abrams’s mother was diagnosed with acute leukemia, it was a frightening experience. Watching her parents attempt to cope with the initial shock of the diagnosis and their struggle to process information imparted by the medical team motivated Dr. Abrams to make their involvement in the medical world a much more positive one. As a physician, Dr. Abrams leveraged her knowledge and clinical skills to help them navigate through the healthcare system every step of the way. She formulated questions for the medical team to best address potential concerns, interpreted medical language into layman’s terms, helped distill the vast amounts of information received from all members of the healthcare team, researched the relevant medical literature, and provided advice on treatments.

Dr. Abrams’s mother was one of her best friends, whose parting gift was helping her to discover a meaningful new career path. She provided the inspiration to establish Seneca Medical Advisory, named after Seneca Lake in upstate New York, where they spent many hours together. To honor her mother’s memory, Dr. Abrams and Seneca Medical Advisory are dedicated to providing clarity to those in need during their medical journey.
